Also known as the Emerald Isle, Ireland is a beautiful country located in northern Europe, right next to the island of Great Britain. When referring to Ireland if higher specifications, it is generally speaking of the southern portion of the island Irish, the only one currently independent while the northern (smaller) region is still under power English. The capital city of Ireland is the picturesque city of Dublin, located in the center east of the country and considered one of the most unique and beautiful cities in Europe. Ireland is characterized by having fabulous landscapes throughout its almost eighty-five thousand km2. The coasts of Ireland have been washed by the waters of the ocean Atlantic to the west and by the Irish Sea to the east.
The history of Ireland is undoubtedly one of the saddest and happiest stories at the same time. While the Irish people suffered for centuries from domination and abuse English, as well as famous catastrophes (such as the Famine of the 19th century) that resulted in a very important loss of their
population Overall, it can also be said that this same people was the one that forged itself to become an independent people. If there is something that is recognized in any Irishman, it is his pride for the country and the land to which he belongs and without doubt this is what allowed Ireland to establish itself as a unique country in the world.Ireland is divided into several provinces or regions, each of which has its own characteristics that also contribute to being 'Irish'. Among the most important and dynamic we must mention Dublin (seat of the capital), Cork, Galway, Tipperary, Mayo, Kerry, Limerick, Kildare, Donegal and Clare among others. The geography of the island is characterized by being relatively low, without too many mountains and with numerous plains. On the coasts of the island you can see very high and beautiful cliffs, smaller islands and very green lands, those that give the island its name.
The identity Irish is established primarily through the significant Celtic presence throughout the island. This presence is felt to this day in many Irish traditions that have to do with its gastronomy, its music, your activities entertainment, their ways of think and to live their day to day.
