Verbs ending in -ar are verbs in infinitive, for example verbs love, study or change. The infinitive is one of the non-personal forms of the verb, that is, they are unconjugated verbs that do not change their form to refer to any of the grammatical persons. The other two endings of the infinitive are -er and -ir, for example fear, be, laugh, live.

Verbs ending in -ar name the verbal action abstractly and they can have different syntactic functions within the sentence, for example:

They can function as adjective complement: “That is something difficult to sort out”
They can function as direct complement: "I want to win a lot of money".
