A tower is defined as all that building performed in a way artificial by the human being and characterized by having enough height to stand out from the rest of the buildings. A tower can be located individually but it can also be part of a complex of buildings and constructions, in which case it is vital that their height is higher than that of the rest in order to standing out. Depending on the area, the design urban planning of the place, the material with which it was made and the climatic conditions of the place, a tower can be hundreds of meters high.
Towers can be very varied and diverse in terms of materials, design, height, structure, shape and purpose of their construction. Normally, when one thinks of a tower the first images who come to the mind are those of the famous medieval towers that formed parts of large castles and that stood out from the total of the edification By its tallness. In medieval times, the tower was used as a control area and
supervision on region or also as an incarceration space for criminals or traitors. Medieval towers were characterized by being made of stone, being quite wide, cylindrical and with very few windows, which made them deeply dark and gloomy.Today, the notion of tower is applied to many diverse constructions, even those that suppose great modernism in your design. An apartment tower or a communications tower are undoubtedly typical constructions of our time that little and nothing have to do with those medieval towers beyond their important height. At the same time, other constructions such as bell towers, lighthouses, gazebos and skyscrapers can be considered towers.
Among the most famous towers in the world we must mention the Tower of Pisa (the famous leaning tower), the Eiffel Tower in Paris, the Tower of London, the CN Tower in Toronto, the Himalayan Towers and the now defunct Twin Towers of New York.
