Microsoft is a company computing multinational founded in 1975 in the United States by Bill Gates and Paul Allen.
Microsoft Corporation is a Washington-based company engaged in the development, manufacturing, licensing and production electronic hardware and software. Its recognized product par excellence is operating system Microsoft Windows in its various versions, along with the Microsoft Office software package. Both occupy a large part of the market share, despite having strong competitors such as those developed by the Apple company or free software and code open that had its peak in recent years.
Microsoft is a company with more than 80,000 employees in more than 100 countries around the world, and with income that exceed 50,000 million a year and that is highly listed on the stock market. The company is as popular as it is criticized, not only for the quality of its products year after year, but because it is also accused of market monopoly practices with complaints that have reached justice.
However, Microsoft is considered a pioneer in the development of operating systems and other resources such as office suites, portals Internet and messaging tools like MSN and encyclopedias like Encarta. In the last decades, in addition, they have been especially dedicated to the production of entertainment units such as the XBox, the Zune and others.
Bill Gates, as its founder and president, is one of the richest people in the world according to indices such as Forbes, and has earmarked millions of his personal fortune to philanthropic causes around the world through the foundation he presides over with his wife.
Currently, the company is dedicated to the development and launch of its new operating system, Windows 7, which, surpassing Windows Vista, will be presented soon.
