The city of Lima is the capital of the South American country of Peru. This city, which has more than seven million inhabitants, is the most populous in the country and the tourist, administrative, political and economic center of the same. Lima is located in southwestern Peru, in the coast that unites the country with the fabulous ocean Peaceful. Lima is also located at the foot of the valleys of the Chillón, Lurín and Rímac rivers.
Founded in the middle of the 16th century (more specifically, in the year 1535), Lima became one of the first South American cities to exist after the Spanish conquest advance over the continent. However, before existing, the region in which the city is currently located was part of the impressive and powerful Inca empire. From the moment of its founding until the fall of Spanish power in America, the city of Lima was always an important political and economic center, becoming not only the headquarters of numerous institutions
administrative, if not also in the port of departure of a large flow of raw materials that were given to the Commerce with Europe and with other regions of America.Today, the city of Lima is the headquarters of the government of the Peruvian country, thus concentrating the largest amount of population of all the territory. Lima is also a very interesting tourist center for all those who want to discover a city in which various colonial-style buildings are combined with modern constructions. Both the Cathedral of Lima, as well as the numerous museums, squares and public buildings are the center of the tourists' attention. As is the case with a large part of the capital cities of Latin America, Lima is home to both the richest and most wealthy of society, as well as the most humble and marginal, who are usually located on the outskirts of the center urban.
