Many games and sports activities can be represented in graphics in which it is possible to express the role of each of the participants. These types of representations are ludograms.
In one of these graphic approaches, the behavior of one or more players is studied during the time in which the recreational or sports activity is carried out. The purpose of this tool is twofold: to observe the strategies of players and athletes and to count actions (for example, the number of times a ball is touched).
Its application in ball sports
In a soccer, basketball or volleyball game there are two teams facing each other and a ball that is constantly moving. The game is recorded with a video camera that records all the movements of the participants.
All this information is captured in a graphic o Praxiogram in which various data are collected: kilometers traveled by each player, percentage of possession of the ball in each team, number of shots or shots of the ball and all those indicators that are relevant in the game.
These quantitative data can be interpreted later by a coach.
In this way, the ludogram information is a complement to analyze the individual and collective behavior of the players.
The ludogram is a very useful instrument for both coaches and physical trainers. Keep in mind that the language of the math can be projected onto any activity, including the sport or the game. On the other hand, the use of ludograms in ball sports is directly related to the thought strategic applied to sport.
The methodology of sports practice
It includes a technique applied to sports or any recreational activity. It is a very useful tool for drawing quantitative and qualitative conclusions. The ludograma is one more element of the planning of sports activity.
The planning of a training session must consider different aspects: who is going to practice sports, with what purpose, the age range of the participants, the training sessions and the rest period or the motivation of athletes. The training plans are divided by months and weeks and incorporate the number of sessions to be performed.
If training is improvised and no methodology work, it is very likely that the desired sporting goals will not be achieved.
