Communication is a natural system in humans and animals, which has allowed them to transmit information, and the characteristics of communication is that they are always codes and are diversified throughout the planet, thus there are different languages, writing systems and diffusion processes. Communication is the best way to transmit and maintain your knowledge; This is the method that allowed man to stand out and evolve since prehistoric times, allowing him to keep his discoveries for posterity. It is an important part of the development of humanity and therefore of society, since it is the transmission of knowledge that has led man to dominate everything that surrounds him.
This word comes from the Latin "comunicare", and can be translated into "common" (which belongs to everyone) or contextually in sharing.
In the human being as a species, communication is free, that is, he can choose everything he wants to say and how to say it, limited only by the type of code used; but in animals communication is always instinctive, which is why their sounds and information are widely restricted.
Basic communication is formed by a common code, which is transmitted between two or more individuals, this code can be a language, a certain type of images or writing.
Main characteristics of communication:
Communication basically consists of four elements that are essential for it to be considered as such:
- The sender
- The message
- The code and
- The receptor
Thus, reviewing the steps we obtain the following:
- Issuer: It is who communicates certain information to another or other people.
- Message: It is the information that is transmitted, the medium may vary, but the message will be the same.
- Code: The code is the essential part for communication, if the code is not adequate, the message cannot be transmitted; thus, a Spanish speaker will not be able to communicate with an English speaker if the other person's code is not known.
- Receiver: The receiver is the one who receives the message. The reception methods can vary, from the spoken, visual, or written message.
To transmit a message you can use neutral images, which explain what you want to transmit without alluding to any other code.
This happens when images such as children walking, falling rocks or men on bicycles are put on roads or advertisements, where the messages are implicit.
Communication has revolutionized today, because due to the invention of the internet, the use of satellites and mobile devices has increased the personal communication and even the codes have been modified, making the languages abbreviated to be able to do them in the short messages of the telephones mobiles.
A characteristic of communication, which will always be noticed, is that in the absence of it, the human being will create a new one, from scratch; that is, if a group of completely illiterate people is isolated, and without prior knowledge, They will develop a communication system, either primitive or advanced, to be able to understand each other.
