The proposal of a fifth dimension refers to a particlesingular, the graviton. It is not a real particle but a hypothetical one and it is believed that it could be a mediating element of gravitational theory. On the other hand, in geometry there is a related and representative figure of the fifth plane, the penteract. We can see it in the image on the right.
The reality that surrounds us can be understood from its different blueprints, also known as dimensions. At an initial level is the first dimension, which is represented by a simple straight line (its corresponding physical magnitude is length, which can be measured in meters).
In a more advanced plane we form a second dimension by adding a perpendicular to the previous one and obtaining a Cartesian plane (Its magnitude would be the length squared, that is, the area or surface of something and this will be expressed in meters squared).
In the third dimension a new perpendicular axis is added and thus three planes appear differentiated: length, width and height (this is equal to the length raised to three and is expressed in meters cubic).
In the field of theoretical physics, the fifth dimension is presented as a hypothesis and not as a reality that has been demonstrated
The three perspectives of physical space allow us to explain the movement, create shapes and figures and understand the real world around us. However, some theoretical physicists consider the possibility that there are more dimensions, a fourth, a fifth and more.
To the three conventional modalities, one more is added, time. With these four structures we order the world, since everything happens in a three-dimensional space and at a certain time.
In science fiction and in some esoteric branches
In this way we arrive at the next phase, constituted by the figure of the fifth dimension described at the beginning of the Article. Theoretical physicists pose and describe it as a simple speculation to better understand the complexity of the universe. However, it is a very suggestive idea for those who write science fiction stories, since in this way it is they can create stories where there are parallel worlds, invisible structures or planes of reality until now unknown.
In the world of esotericism the supposed fifth dimension also plays a relevant role. Through it, stories related to aliens, paranormal phenomena or mysterious forces that rule the world are told.
In many currents of esotericism it is affirmed that the fifth dimension is actually love. In this way, people who live in harmony and deeply respect all living beings are immersed in the fifth dimension.
