As is usual in Spanish, the word we are analyzing has different meanings and in each of them its meaning expresses a different meaning. It should be noted that the word commitment comes from the expression in Latin in pignus, which literally means in pledge.

Thus, if someone repeatedly tries to do something and is always wrong, it is very likely that someone will tell them "don't insist" and with this phrase they are indicating that it is better not to insist.

Endeavor and performance

The prefix des indicates negation, lack of something, or the opposite of. Thus, imbalance is the lack of Balance and someone unfortunate is a person who has no fortune. However, in the case of commitment and performance, there is no opposition or denial relationship between the two words.

The antonym of commitment is not performance but laziness, disinterest or abandonment. However, in the context of pawn shops, there is an antagonism between the two words, since leaving an object of value makes the pawn and when recovering it the performance occurs.
