The languagedenotative It is the one used to say things as they are; this language says exactly what things are and focuses on an idea that defines each object.
The denotative language is the one that designates the universal reality, with which everyone agrees or as it is found in the dictionary.
It is the opposite language of connotative language, where an expression can have different meanings, which adapt to the sentiment or cultural customs of a given place.

Uses of denotative language:
Darling
- Darling = space or part of the atmosphere that lies before outer space (denotative)
- Darling = Sky, I'll be late tonight (Sky expresses a literary concept where affection is expressed for the person)
Heart
- Heart = Organ in charge of pumping blood through the body (denotative)
- Heart = I love you with all my heart (Expression that communicates pure affection from the depths of the being or soul)
Mass
- Mass = The mass of people crowded into the store, waiting for an autograph.
- Mass = The dough is the raw material of the baker. (denotative)
port
- Port = The port is where the ships arrive with the merchandise. (denotative)
- Port = She is the port where my tranquility arrives.
Example of denotative language in scientific text:
Matter is made up of atoms, and these atoms have a certain structure.
In its nucleus are neutrons and protons.
Neutrons do not have an electric charge, whereas protons have a positive charge and orbiting around neutrons and protons are electrons, which have an electrical charge negative.
