The self-proclaimed Islamic State, also known by the names of Isis or Daish, refers to a collective Islamic extremist who practices terrorism as a means of expanding his religious and ideological approaches. The territories controlled by the Islamic State at the end of 2015 are part of Syria and Iraq. The war against the Islamic State militias has an international dimension, as it pits the Iraqi and Syrian armies against each other. supported by the Kurds and by NATO against the camp of radical extremism that advocates a caliphate that unifies Muslim territories of the world.
The origin of the Islamic State and its claims
The origin of this terrorist organization must be placed around the year 2000 when a group of jihadists related to Al Qaeda carried out a series of attacks in Baghdad and in subsequent years in Tunisia, Egypt, France, Kuwait, the US, Russia, Spain, Jordan and Kenya, among others countries.
In addition to the aspiration of a new Sunni-inspired Muslim caliphate, the Islamic State militias intend to apply sharia, the
law sacred of Islam. This implies the abolition of any form of democracy. This model of society is based on the following aspects:1) predominance of the revealed word of the Qur'an over any legislation developed by men,
2) the belief that there is only one interpretation of Islamic law and
3) the imposition of severe punishments to those who do not respect the precepts of the sharia. The Islamic State terrorist group advocates a rigid application of sharia, which is opposed to the beliefs of a large section of Muslims, who are in favor of a moderate application of the laws Islamic.
Conflict variables
There are analysts who argue that the Islamic State is seeking the creation of a grand international coalition in order to provoke a large-scale war. scale, that is to say, a war between Islam and the rest of the world.
The conflict war has diverse collateral aspects:
1) Kurds fight against the Islamic State with the intention of establishing an independent Kurdish state,
2) Western countries do not have a single position in relation to what should be the strategy to fight the forces of the Islamic State,
3) the war situation is causing a massive exodus of refugees and, consequently, a humanitarian problem of great magnitude,
4) Turkey is a country with a European and democratic tradition and, at the same time, with population predominantly Muslim and with a situation geopolitics strategic in the context of the war against the Islamic State and
5) The financing of this armed group comes mainly from oil from Syria and Iraq.
