The term summertime is used to designate as a qualifying adjective the time of year in which the temperatures rise and the weather it's more warm. This summer time is commonly known as summer and, depending on the hemisphere, it can happen from December to March or from July to September. Summer is a time that is characterized in general terms by developing the highest summer temperatures, although they can vary very clearly between region and region. Thus, summer as an adjective will be used to designate everything that happens in this period.
Summer is one of the favorite seasons of the year for people because it is usually associated with other phenomena such as a greater number of sunny days, low rainfall, warm temperatures, etc. At the same time the flowers and trees are fully flowered and green as a consequence of the previous step of the spring. Generally speaking, summer is a much less harsh season than winter (its opposite), although in recent years the
climate change has contributed to generating higher and higher temperatures, reaching levels almost intolerable. However, summer is usually associated with the holiday period, interruption or closure of the school year, which means that most of the population use this time to travel or simply to rest because the weather is more pleasant and easier to deal with than what happens at other times of the year. Maritime destinations are the main choice at this time due to the possibility of refreshment and relaxation that they assure their visitors.
While there are exact dates of the year when this season (like all others) begins and ends, these are not more than artificial human conventions that are used to approximate what season the region. But for science, what determines when summer begins or ends is nothing other than astronomical phenomena such as the summer solstice and the equinox of fall that mark the beginning and the end of the epoch respectively.
