At the behest of the field of chemistry, the ethanol is a type of chemical compound, popularly known as ethyl alcohol, which in a situation of pressure and temperature normal, it is characterized as a colorless and flammable liquid at a boiling point of 78 ° C. When it is solved in water, it is usually used as a solvent and in elaboration from alcoholic drinks.
It should be noted that according to the alcoholic beverage that has it, ethanol will be accompanied by different chemical substances that will give it a characteristic color, smell and flavor.
Ethanol is not a modern compound, but quite the contrary, since ancient times it was used; it was achieved from the fermentation of a combined solution of sugars and yeast which was then subjected to the distillation process.
Lines above we mentioned some of the most widespread uses of ethanol, being that of participating in the preparation of alcoholic beverages one of the best known, however, ethanol is also used in the
industry as a starting compound for the synthesis of different products such as ethyl acetate (paint solvent) and in areas such as pharmaceuticals and cosmetics, being disinfection and participation on the manufacturing of air fresheners and perfumes, respectively, the most important.Regarding its use in excess, it is important to mention that ethanol can severely affect the Central Nervous Systemgenerating: states of euphoria, dizziness, disinhibition, illusions, confusion, drowsiness, reduces reflexes, coordination movement, temporary loss of vision, increased violence and in the most serious cases it can lead to a coma and then immediately to death.
