Every science has a object of concrete study. Through scientific study it is possible to better understand reality. Scientific knowledge must be interdisciplinary, that is, the different scientific areas offer information about a specific reality. In this article we focus our attention on the study of a science: ethology.
What is the object of study of ethology?
It is the science that studies the behavior of animals when they are free. There are animals that have a wild life, they show the beauty of animal life. But there are also examples of animals that have become part of the personal routine of many families.
For example, there are people who have a mascot at home. The dog and the cats are an example. Many people have a dog, they go for a walk with it and they feel that this animal keeps them a lot of company. Thus, in the coexistence Every day, a relationship is established between the owner and the animals. Therefore, through ethology, it is possible to obtain more information about animal behavior in order to better understand it.
Ethology as a study of animals in the context in which they inhabit
Ethology studies the behavior of animals in the context in which they are found, that is, either in their natural environment or in another context. It should be noted that there is also the human ethology, which focuses on the study of people's behavior.
Analyzing the roots of animal behavior
The ethology of animal study also reflects on the extent to which there are behaviors animals that have an explanation genetics or is it about behaviors acquired through learning. All science starts from questions, from observation and of the hypothesis arising from observation from the experience. There is a question proper to ethology: When did this behavior appear in the history of evolution?
Ethology is a recent science that shows the positive curiosity to know the traditions frequent of animals. As a science, ethology serves two important functions. First, describe the main features of an animal's behavior and second, find out the reasons why an animal behaves in this way. That is, explain the reason for that conduct animal. For example, in the event that a pet shows aggressive behavior, it is convenient to find out the causes.
