Example of Transitive Modifiers of the Verb
Spanish Classes / / July 04, 2021
The transitive modifiers of the verb are those that have a direct object.
Example of transitive modifiers of the verb nucleus:
Guillermo González Camarena invented color television.Analysis
Predicate: he invented color television. Verbal core: he invented.
Modifier: color television (this modifier is the direct object).
This statement in a passive voice would look like this:
Color television was invented by Guillermo González Camarena.
The direct object can be represented by the word La (he invented It).
Other examples:
The Spanish brought the wheat.
Swallows build their nests in the eaves of houses.
Enrique ironed his tie. Martina pruned her plants.
By putting these statements in a passive voice, we would have:
The wheat was brought by the Spanish.
The nests are built by the swallows in the eaves of the houses.
The fite tie ironed by Enrique. The plants are pruned by Martina.
In the previous statements the direct object is replaced by Lo, Los, La, Las. A) Yes:
It (They brought it).
The (They build them).
It (He ironed it).
The (I pruned them).
From this it can be concluded that the verbs that precede a direct object that can be replaced by the forms Lo, los, la, las, are transitive. In statements like this, the verbal nucleus carries the direct object as a modifier.
