Through the term structure you can refer to various issues. On the one hand, structure is understood to be the distribution and order of the most important parts that make up a whole. But on the other hand, with the same term we can mean or speak of that system of concepts that are linked to each other and whose reason for being will be to specify the essence of the object of study, that is, both the reality and the language that is spoken will have their own and particular structure. And in the other of the areas in which the word structure enjoys enormous popularity since it is in common and regular use by those who understand it, it is on the architecture.
In architecture and engineering, the use of this term is also recurrent since it is called this way that frame of iron, wood or concrete that supports a building on itself. Undoubtedly this sense of the word structure is the most popular and widespread when using this term ...
The basics, before placing an apartment building that is being built all the accessory details such as be of coverings, taps and openings, it will be essential to place a structure that gives consistency and rigidity to the
building, which will be responsible for the durability of the building and which of course will also determine its value. As long as it is industrial engineering, a branch within civil engineering, the discipline that focuses precisely on the design and in the calculation that corresponds to the structural part that we mentioned lines above.
Its main mission and in that it focuses fundamentally is to achieve structures that are safe, functional and very resistant, since be it in buildings, walls, bridges, dams, tunnels, among other spaces and that are constantly traveled and inhabited by people.
To do this, to design the structures, structural engineering applies what is known as continuous media mechanics, a branch of mechanical physics that establishes a unified model for deforming solids, fluids, and rigid. In this way, a design that is capable of supporting its own weight, that of the loads due to use and that weight caused by natural or climatic phenomena, such is the case of wind, water, snow and earthquakes.
Structural engineering and the professionals who deploy it are then ensured through these procedures that the designs they make are capable of meeting the standards of safety, that is to say, that the structure does not yield without giving even a prior warning.
On the other hand, they also attend to comfort issues, for example that structural vibrations do not disturb the tranquility of the occupants and this is closely related to the materials used in the building.
It should be noted that these objectives are possible to meet by not only making responsible use and satisfactory of the money invested but also by the choice of materials that meet the aforementioned standards.
But many, many other areas also use the term structure to refer to their functioning, disposition or subject of study, the social Sciences, applied sciences, astronomy, engineering, mathematics, among others.
