The verb expand refers to the action of communicating something in a detailed way, without haste and with the purpose of venting. In a second sense, it expresses the action of having fun.

A way to communicate

If I say "I need to elaborate" I am indicating that I feel the urge to talk to someone and tell them something in detail. Therefore, whoever expands is venting or sincere. It is not simply a matter of telling something to a interlocutor, but to do it in a detailed way.

As a general criterion, we vent to people with whom we have a lot of confidence and personal affinity.

In Spanish we use many verbs to refer to the communication, such as speaking, talking, confessing, whispering, giving opinions, saying, commenting or criticizing, among others. Each of them expresses a specific form of communication.

If I say "I am going to talk to you" I am transmitting a neutral message, but if I say "I am going to expand with you" I am transferring several ideas. On the one hand, I affirm that I am going to talk about something of some importance to me. At the same time, I am announcing that I will not be brief in my

intervention, for I intend to extend myself. Finally, I inform you that I intend to make a kind of confession.

From the point of view of psychology, the fact of expounding is directly related to verbalization

If we do not put into words our ideas and emotions, we end up locked in ourselves. In this sense, when we expand with another person we are taking the first step to be understood. Remember that many personal problems are solved simply by verbalization.

We communicate in many ways, but there are two that stand out from the rest, speaking and writing. In the context of writing there are short and concise messages (for example, when we use a tweet), while that other means are more conducive to telling something in detail (for example, through a personal letter or a email).

A way to combat boredom

The term we analyze goes beyond oral or written communication. In fact, spreading out equates to recreation and fun. If I say "my child needs to expand" I do not necessarily mean the verbalization of ideas or feelings, but to another type of need, such as play, physical activity or interaction with others.

Humans, especially kids, we need to combat boredom and for this we seek some type of recreational or recreational activity. In short, we all have to elaborate.
