The teachings of Buddhism focus primarily on some values or moral principles, such as the compassion, benevolence or I respect towards all forms of life and, very especially, the love. In parallel, there is a deep I long of individual awakening, which is known as nirvana.
The so-called Noble Eightfold Path is a proposal to free ourselves from suffering
In Buddhism it is stated that the cause of pain is found in desire and therefore pain disappears when we are able to eliminate the associated desire. However, this process is not easily achieved, but it is necessary to travel a path of liberation. This path is precisely the noble eightfold path.
The symbol Representing this proposal for liberation is the wheel of dharma, that is, a wheel with eight spokes. Each of them is a way to reach the cessation of suffering in the human soul.
The Eight Steps to Walking the Path to Full Freedom from Pain
First, we must incorporate a correct view of reality. This involves understanding the intimate relationship between pain and desire. At the same time, it means that we must distinguish between what we see and what really exists.
Second, we think correctly when we adopt a attitude committed to ourselves. In other words, we think with a criterion based on love and understanding.
We speak correctly when our words are sincere. The frivolous conversations with a language hypocrite divert us from this course.
The correct action is one that does not cause suffering in others. In this sense, Buddhism considers that violence, theft or sexual abuse are deviant behavior.
A correct way of life is one that favors spiritual growth in some sense. Consequently, certain professions or activities are inappropriate paths for a harmonious life. Thus, if one has a definite and sincere vocation, he should not renounce it because it is not economically profitable.
We make the right effort when we are able to anticipate harmful situations and when we nurture healthy thoughts.
Attention is correct when we are fully aware of ourselves, others and the world around us.
Meditation is another of the spokes of the dharma wheel. The practice of meditation should be directed towards understanding the essence of oneself.
