If we talk about instant messaging in the environment of mobile devices such as smartphones, without a doubt WhatsApp He is the king, but the candidate more well positioned to occupy his throne (more to snatch him from him one day than to succeed him) is Telegram.
Telegram is an instant messaging application created by Pavel Durov in 2013, whose main characteristics are the security of the information that transits the network, and its independence from the large companies.
Just as WhatsApp (an inevitable reference when we talk about this type of application) had behind from itself to a profit-oriented company and, after its acquisition, to such a powerful multinational What Facebook, Telegram is run by a non-profit organization, allowing you to stay independent.
In the aspect of the safety, the encryption of conversations is something relatively recent in WhatsApp (before they circulated in text clear for Internet, with the ease to intercept and read them that this meant), while in Telegram it was one of its founding premises.
Also in terms of sending multimedia files and other types, Telegram offers greater input support than WhatsApp, although this has ended up catching up with time.
If you have read this far, now you are probably wondering why it seems that Telegram was better in origin than WhatsApp, it is the latter that dominates the panorama of IP messaging communications on mobile devices, and not the reverse.
Well, the answer is that WhatsApp is prior to Telegram (the first from 2010 and, as I said before, the second from 2013), so that when Telegram arrived -to cover the deficiencies of WhatsApp-, the instant messaging that is now owned by Facebook already took over the market.
In fact, WhatsApp has caught up with Telegram in some functionalities (such as the encryption of messages) in large part due to the pressure exerted by Telegram.
Another aspect in which Telegram started before WhatsApp was in its clients for desktop operating systems and web client.
While Telegram launched them from 2014, WhatsApp did so in 2015. This was a great advantage in terms of manageability of the app, since it allows you to sit and type comfortably in a computer instead of having to do it on the screen of the mobile device, by nature more uncomfortable.
It helps that the account of Username it is not linked to the phone number; in WhatsApp we can only have the client installed in a phone, and this must be in functioning to connect from a desktop client or the web interface, while in Telegram this is not the case.
Telegram also shines for its platform of bots, that is, artificial intelligence programs that allow you to have conversations with them.
This allows, for example, companies to prepare customer service services very automated, for the times when they need to offer it but can't afford to have staff dedicated. The perfect example would be a small business that must cover the night shift.
If, after all this, you are interested in using Telegram, you have to register in the system and use the applications, which you will find for Android, iOS (iPhone / iPad), Windows, macOS and GNU / Linux.
