Torture is a type of aggression that is applied to a person or animal through not only the violence physical (although this is the most used since it causes immediate damage) but also through the verbal violence and psychological abuse. The human being is the only one of all living beings that applies torture to other living beings and although it is ethically unacceptable, many governments or institutions Throughout human history it has been used openly or covertly. In the case of torture that can be applied to animals, the fact is that the legislation is not of the everything clear or firm about this type of action and that is why it is very easy to do it without receiving any type of punishment.
Torture is a process that is applied to a living being for certain purposes. One of the most common is the obtaining of information, the realization of certain actions or the repentance of the one who is attacked when it comes to human beings. However, in many cases torture does not have a specific purpose and is inflicted on the person or animal simply for the pleasure of seeing another living being suffering and thus establishing a level of hierarchy or power over the other.
Tortures can be very varied, although in general the actions carried out are deeply painful and savage. In many cases, physical torture is carried out through actions such as electrocution, blows of various kinds, momentary suffocation, applying hot surfaces to the body, etc. Tortures can also be accompanied by various types of psychological violence such as insults, permanent denigration not only of the appearance physical nature of a person if not also to ethnicity, religion or ideologypolitics owned by the person, etc.
Torture has been one of the most recurrent forms of authoritarian and anti-democratic governments who came to power with specific objectives of annihilation of a part or several of a community.
