Concept in Definition ABC

The term earthling literally means that a person comes from planet Earth. Like all humans and animals that we know, they belong to planet Earth as they have not been discovered. life on no other planet, it is understood that the term earthling is usually used in the stories of Science fiction and suspense in which beings from other planets or extraterrestrials call us with that name because we belong to this planet.

The term earthling would be somewhat redundant if it were said by any of us since we all are and in part that is ours essence: as a known life within the Solar system, Earthlings can only be those who were born and inhabit planet Earth. This is why the word is only used by aliens in those stories of fiction in which it is told about a possible Contact or invasion of beings from another world to ours. Normally, the stories of aliens are usually of invasion or domination attempts from strangers towards the inhabitants of Earth, Therefore, the meaning that is given to this term is usually negative or derogatory seen and considering that aliens are estimated superiors.

When we talk about earthling we are talking about a person who lives on planet Earth. Another term similar to that is land, which also refers to our planet. However, this last concept is a bit more limited since in some cases it is used to distinguish all animals and plants that live in terrestrial space as opposed to those that live in aquatic environments or in the air. Terrestrial animals are usually mammals and despite the fact that a large part of the planet is covered by Water, most of the animals are terrestrial.
