The word mantra is a word of Sanskrit origin that is used in the civilization Hindu to refer to the idea of spiritual transformation through which a person can go through certain stages of his life. The term is associated with the notion of profound change, of disruption not only of habits and lifestyles but also of the way the world is seen. The mantra is one of the most common Hindu concepts in the West.
If one tries analyze the etymological meaning of the word mantra will discover that while its root man Means "think", the suffixtra means tool or instrument. Hence, then the etymological explanation of the concept of mantra means "instrument or tool of the mind, of the thought". In this way it is clear that the mantra represents a mode of spiritual transformation that does not go through something superficial, empirical or bodily if not that it happens more than anything by the state of the mind of a person without perhaps the body being affected in the least.
There are many different mantras, each of them being related to a specific element of reality, nature or the cosmos. The focus on each mantra will be done in order to achieve specific transformations that are linked to the center of power to which that mantra refers. Some of the most important mantras are Bhajan, Kirtan, Guru, Bija and others. At the same time, there is a mantra known as "healing mantra" that aims to cleanse the spirit through the repetition of certain forms or practices. The way to achieve the real change that is expected through the mantra is made up of five stages: through the writing, of spoken language, of thought, of sighs and of the repeated repetition of ideas.
