The term mediation refers to the act of mediating, of to intervene in a situation with the aim of solving a confrontation or dispute between two parties. Mediation always involves attitude close to objectivity since it is understood that someone who is not directly involved with the fact or problem to be solved will not respond according to personal interests. Mediation can take place informally and in everyday life as well as in large spheres of debate international politician.
Usually, the notion of mediation can be related to that of arbitration since we always speak of two parties directly involved in a fact and a third party that acts to arbitrate or decide on the possible solution. While in the informal and everyday level, mediation can arise spontaneously and be carried out through methodologies that are not entirely objective, At the formal and international level, mediation implies a serious and rigid system of behaviors, forms and protocols that both parties must respect. This is so because, in general, when the case of an international mediation involves medium or severe discontent between two countries that request, therefore, the
intervention external.In this sense, the international community today has a significant number of entities that are specifically concerned with mediating and intervening in situations of conflict between two countries or regions. One of the most important is UN (United Nations Organization), made up of almost all the countries on the planet. These entities and organisms have a rich actuation system, as well as a legislation suitable for each case, emergency systems, direct action and intervention methodologies, etc. Many times, the UN and other international mediation bodies have been criticized for not mediating or acting objectively in the resolution of certain severe conflicts.
