The Mossad and the Eichmann affair
When the state of Israel achieved its independence, the secret services began to "hunt down" Nazi leaders who remained hidden with a false identity. The objective of these operations was to capture the Nazi leaders to bring them to justice as war criminals. One of the Nazis targeted by the Mossad was Adolf Eichmann, a German SS lieutenant colonel who was involved in Jewish extermination. He was in Argentina posing as an emigrant in Buenos Aires.
Despite this, in 1960 Mosad agents located him and kidnapped him with the purpose of bringing him to justice in Israel and trying him for his crimes. It should be noted that the location was possible because a neighbor of his who was a blind German emigrant of Jewish origin came to the conclusion that his neighbor was actually Adolf Eichmann.
Following the initial lead, the Mossad captured Eichman on the streets of Buenos Aires and transferred him to Israel.
During the trial, the Nazi leader defended himself in court claiming that he was not guilty of anything since he simply obeyed orders from his superiors. However, the court judges found that there was conclusive evidence accusing Eichmann of genocide and for this reason he was sentenced to be hanged.
Revenge against those responsible for the Munich Massacre
During the Olympic Games In 1972 in Munich, eleven Israeli athletes were killed by members of the terrorist group Black September, an organization linked to the Palestine Liberation Organization. The government Israel decided to punish those responsible for the massacre and Mosad launched an international operation to kill each of the terrorists involved.
