According to the spelling rules, all verbs ending in -bir they are always written with "b". For example: write, receive, discover.
There are three verbs that are the exception to this rule since they are written with "v". They are: live, serve, boil.
This group of verbs belongs to the verbs of the third conjugation, which are all those whose infinitive ends in -to go.
