Spanish Classes / / July 04, 2021
The explanatory coordinate sentences are coordinated sentences that are joined by explanatory links.
The coordinated sentences they are two or more sentences that are joined by some type of link and whose main characteristic is that they have the same syntactic hierarchy. Each of the sentences works independently and does not depend on each other; each sentence has its own subject and predicate. This means that coordinated sentences maintain their autonomy but are joined to create a more complex compound sentence.
In this way, in explanatory coordinated sentences we have the union of two sentences by means of an explanatory link. The explanatory link establishes a relationship between the sentences in which one of the sentences presents an idea that is explained by another of the sentences. The explanatory link introduces or links the sentence that functions as an explanation of the first sentence.
The explanatory linksThey are, as usual, conjunctive phrases. These types of phrases are those that work within a sentence as if they were conjunctions. Remember that conjunctions are words that have the function of joining two words, phrases or complete sentences.
Listed below are some examples of explanatory links or explanatory conjunctive phrases to form this type of coordinated sentences:
