The letter q is the eighteenth letter of the current Spanish alphabet, and its abundance is medium, because not comparing it with other letters the words with q they are quite small.

Apparently its origin is in the Phoenician alphabet from where it happened to the Greek alphabet and later finally it happened to the Latin alphabet.

When arriving at the Spanish alphabet it already had the two forms that we know "q" and "Q", which are still used today

The sound of the q is very similar to that of the letter c in that it has the sound of k and the sound of K itself, which is the one taken as a reference.

For its sound to be considered as such and its writing is correct, the q must be accompanied in some words for a letter "u", which will be silent, being only in the case that it is used with the vowels "e" and "or".
