The intransitive sentences are those that do not include a direct object or a complement that allows them to complete their meaning. For example: Dinosaurs no longer exist.
On the contrary, transitive sentencesare those that use Transitive verbs and they do need a complement to acquire full meaning. For example: Juan took the letter to the office. ("The letter" is the direct object)
There is no defined and closed list of what are transitive or intransitive verbs since this condition depends on the context. In certain circumstances, a verb may need an associated direct object, even in the case of seemingly intransitive verbs.
