The mixed peripherals or bidirectional are those electronic devices that operate as input and output of information, allowing data to be entered or extracted from the system, either as a rigid support (physical, transportable) or not. For example: smartphones, touch screens, modems.
The denomination of peripherals It is because they are not part of the central processing unit (CPU) of the computer, but can be connected to it to communicate with the outside world (operations of Input /Output). The mixed ones are those capable of performing both tours, entry and exit.
