The serious words or plain words are those whose stressed syllable is the penultimate, according to the classification of words according to where the stressed syllable is located (that is, the one that is pronounced with more emphasis). For example:facil, rana, cocina.
The other two most common classes of words when it comes to stress are the sharp words, which have the last syllable as the stressed syllable, and the esdrújulas words, in which the stressed syllable is the penultimate.
To know what serious words they carry accent mark or orthographic accent, we must follow a rule:
