Spanish Classes / / July 04, 2021
Enclitic pronouns are those that are used after a verb and are linked to it, giving rise to a new word.
These are used in the conjugations of the infinitive and the gerund, for example: “amarlo”, “amalo”, or they can also be separated putting the pronoun before it, in cases where a verb in a personal form goes before the gerund or the infinitive, for example: “lo está loving ”.
In the imperative mood it is always necessary to use the enclitic pronouns, for example: "tell me", likewise when the present of the subjunctive is imperative, for example: "tell him".
They can also be used in compound words that use a verb, an enclitic pronoun, and a complement, for example: “comelotodo”.
As for the spelling rules, the enclitic pronouns they follow the grammatical criteria, for example: “dame” does not have an accent because it is a serious word that ends in a vowel, while “give it to me” does have an accent because it is an esdrújula word.
