In Spanish, there are many words that contain a vowel before the T. For example: atar, etereo, Itemaliano, otro, util. The sound of the T, when it is between vowels, tends to be attenuated due to the open nature of these sounds.
Although there are not many words that contain a vowel followed by the T in the same syllable (for example: et - ce - te - ra), there are several that contain these sequences but in different syllables (for example: a - tas - car).
