    Romeo and Juliet Synopsis

    The excellent and unfortunate tragedy of Romeo and Juliet tells the story of two young lovers, Romeo and Juliet, who belong to two powerful and enemy families from the Renaissance city of Verona, Italy: the Montagues and the Capulets.

    The protagonists meet at a Capulet family dance, in which Romeo and his friends sneak in, Despite the danger they face and the fact that the king of the city has decreed a fragile truce between the families And as soon as they dance, Romeo and Juliet fall madly in love with each other.

    Although their love is clearly impossible, the young people decide to see each other in secret and with the complicity of Friar Lorenzo, who sees in their union the possibility of reconciling the two families, also decide get marry.

    At the same time, Juliet's cousin, Tybalt, decides to challenge Romeo to a duel, who refuses to accept the challenge. So his best friend, Mercutio, takes his place and dies at the hands of Tybalt. Romeo is then forced to avenge his friend and murder the cousin of his beloved, and in doing so violates the king's decree. His punishment will be to be exiled from Verona under threat of death.

    In her absence, Juliet's father decides to commit her to Count Paris, something to which Juliet reluctantly agrees, while she and Friar Lorenzo devise a plan to escape with Romeo: She will drink a potion that will induce a severe 48-hour coma, and when the family believes her dead and deposits her in the family crypt, Romeo will be able to sneak in and rescue her from her.

    However, things go wrong and the messenger who was supposed to alert Romeo to the plan fails to find him in time. Instead, he is contacted by one of his servants, Baltazar, who informs him of Juliet's sudden death.

    Without knowing the plan of his lover, Romeo buys poison from the apothecary and goes to Juliet's tomb. to die by her side, after giving death in a duel to Count Paris, who mistakes him for a looter of graves.

    Finally, Romeo commits suicide, and upon awakening Juliet from her induced coma, she finds the corpses of her suitors in her grave. Consumed by grief, Juliet takes Romeo's dagger, pierces her heart with it, and dies on the spot.

    The death of the two young men is related by Fray Lorenzo to the two families, as well as to the prince of the city, and this puts an end to the rivalry of the families, who jointly erect a golden statue in honor of the "lovers of Verona ”.
