The synonymy of connotation It is the relationship between terms that have acquired new meanings in colloquial, dialectal or circumstantial use and that do not bear a similarity to another word in its literal meaning. For instance: In hard times my brother is my support / me pillar.
The synonymy It is the link between two or more words or expressions that have the same or a very similar meaning. There are many types of synonymy: total, partial, conceptual, contextual, referential, of connotation.
Its opposite is the antonymy, that is, the relationship between terms that are related to others because they express an opposite or antagonistic idea.
