The epiphora, also called epístrophe, is a literary or rhetorical figure which consists of repeating one or more words at the end of verses, stanzas, sentences, paragraphs or phrases. For instance: Outside it rained, in my soul too it rained.
It is a type of repetition and is used to highlight that word or phrase that is repeated and has a sound effect that is similar to that of the alliteration (the repetition of a sound) or that of the rhyme.
Like all rhetorical figures, the epiphora is used for aesthetic purposes so that the reader conceives things and actions in a different way.
