    The letter Y It may be a consonant or a vowel depending on the context and is the twenty-sixth letter of the alphabet. In Spanish there are not many words with this letter. For instance: toanduda, maando, muand.

    The confusion as to when this letter is used is because, in many places, the Y has the same sound as the double L.
