Comic books

The comic books They are narratives made with a sequence of pictures and may or may not have text. They can be published on paper or in digital format and can be a publication in itself or appear in another type of publication, for example, in a newspaper.

Comics, like other types of narratives, such as stories or novels, can be of different genders and deal with different topics. Many of these graphic narratives have multiple numbers and, in some cases, are sagas.

1. Mafalda by Quino. It is a newspaper strip that was created in Argentina between 1964 and 1973, but is read in many parts of the world. It was published in newspapers and magazines and each strip was a closed story, that is, it had no continuity. The main character is a girl named Mafalda who always reflects on political and social issues, among others. This cartoon is characterized by being humorous and uses irony to generate laughter and reflection in the reader.

2. Garfield by Jim Davis. It is a newspaper strip that was first published in the United States in 1978 and later in other countries. This cartoon tells the stories of a cat, Gardfield; his owner, Jon; and a dog, Odie. In these stories humor always appears and the personality of Gardfield, the protagonist, who always wants to eat or sleep, stands out. In 1988 a series based on this comic was made, which ran for seven seasons.
3. The Killing Joke by Alan Moore. This comic focuses on a story of two characters: Batman and the Joker. It was published in 1988, many years after the first Batman comic was published. The comic tells a story that happens in the present of the enunciation, but there are also flashbacks, which tell how the Joker went from being an ordinary man to being an antagonist of Batman. This comic is considered one of the best of Batman and many of the elements of the history of him were used to make the film Joker of 2019.
4. Akiraby Katsuhiro Otomo. It is a Japanese manga that was published in installments between 1982 and 1990 and is one of the best-known and most valued manga in the world. The genre of this comic is cyberpunk, a subgenre of science fiction. The events occur in a dystopian future, in the city of Neo-Tokyo, where experiments are made with people who acquire special powers, where politicians are corrupt and where people are not happy. The author adapted the manga into a movie, which is also called Akira.
5. Peanuts by Charles M. Schulz. It is a newspaper strip that was published in American newspapers between 1950 and 2000 and in newspapers in other countries. The two protagonists of him are Charlie Brown, a boy, and Snoopy, the boy's dog. Despite being a very thoughtful strip, it is also very humorous and was America's most popular comic strip.
6. The everlasting by Héctor Germán Oesterheld. The first version was published in parts in a comic supplement called Hora Cero Semanal between 1957 and 1959. The story takes place in Argentina and is science fiction. Juan Salvo, the protagonist, tells how the aliens invaded the planet and how he and other people resisted this invasion.
7. Asterix the Gaul by René Goscinny and Albert Uderzo. The first publication of this comic was made in Pilote, a French magazine, in 1959 and continues to be published today. In this comic cartoon it is narrated in a village of Gaul in the year 50 BC. C., which has not yet been invaded by the Roman Empire. Asterix, Obelix (Asterix's best friend) and the other villagers can resist Caesar's conquest because they took a magic potion that gave them special powers.
8. Spider-man by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. The character first appeared in an American comic in 1962 and later other comics were made in which he appears as the protagonist. Spiderman used to be a common man, whose name was Peter Benjamin Parker and who was bitten by a radioactive spider. After this accident, Peter acquired superpowers. This character appeared in different series and movies.
9. Batman created by Bob Kane and Bill Finger. The character first appeared in 1939 and is one of the most famous superheroes of all he times, but he does not have superpowers, but uses different tools to perform his feats. Batman is a man named Bruce Wayne, a billionaire philanthropist. Series and movies of this character have been made and are still being made. In the comic, in the series and in the movies he has many enemies, the most famous of which are the Joker, the Penguin, Two-Face and Harley Quinn. He also has some allies, the most famous being Robin, who along with Batman, was the protagonist of the Batman and Robin series.
10. The Adventures of Tintin by Georges Remi. This Belgian comic strip was published between 1929 and 1976 in newspapers, in comic weeklies and in books, which were translated into several languages. Tintin is the main character, who is a reporter who is always accompanied by Snowy, his dog. These two characters travel to different parts of the world, where they perform different feats. The comic has been criticized because racist and colonialist ideas appeared at the beginning. This cartoon was adapted to the theater, film and television.
