    Types of adverbs

    There are different types of adverbs because these words are classified into different classes according to four criteria: the meaning, the form, the grammatical nature and the relationship they have with the verb. For instance: According to its meaning, there it is an adverb that functions as a circumstantial place.

    The adverbs are words that modify verbs, adjectives and other adverbs and are invariable words, that is, they do not vary in gender (feminine and masculine) and in number (singular and plural).

    Types of adverbs according to their meaning

    According to the meaning, there are two large groups of adverbs: circumstantial and epistemic. The circumstantial ones are those adverbs that express a circumstance that is related to the action, the process or the state designated by the verb and that answer the questions where? when? excuse me? and how much?

    The different circumstantial adverbs are:

    Epistemic adverbs are those adverbs that change the meaning of the sentence or speech and that give information that is related to the issuer. These adverbs do not give information about the circumstances of the development of the action designated by the verb.

    This classification does not depend on the adverb itself, but on how it is related to the verb. There are different types:

    1. Park your car there, please.
    2. He replied rightly.
    3. If we don't hurry, we'll get there late.
    4. This book costs much, but it is very good.

    Examples of attributive adverbs

    1. The patient is well.
    2. The store is not on this block, it is in front.
    3. Since I started doing sports, I feel better.
    4. The paint on the walls was very well.
    5. Gabriel did not come on the excursion because he felt wrong and stayed there, at the hotel.

    Examples of adjunct adverbs

    1. I changed the car for a smaller one, because the old one was very big.
    2. The painter analyzed carefully the box, to make some modifications.
    3. The day before yesterday the president announced new measures.
    4. The cook decorated the cake very slowly.
    5. Probably Today we will finish the job.
