The prepositive phrases, also called prepositional phrases, are sequences of words that function like the prepositions. Some of these phrases can be exchanged for other prepositions. For instance: thanks to, hoping for, about to.
Prepositive phrases, like prepositions, are grammatical units, they are invariable, they are links that are used to join terms (generally, they are in front of a nominal group) and are used to indicate destination, cause, direction, purpose, opposition, etc.
However, prepositive phrases differ from prepositions in that the former have more specific meanings and are formed by more than one word. There are different types of prepositional phrases, depending on which words make it up:
