Active voice
The active voice is a type of grammatical voice in which the subject of the sentence, called in this case agent subject, executes the action of the verb. It can also include the object on which the action is performed. For instance: Catalina sings a song.
The active voice is characterized by a specific order of those elements of the sentence that is usually: subject + action + object. For instance: Marta bought a sofa.
The subject in Spanish can be tacit, that is, not to be express. For instance: She told a lie. (unspoken subject: he / she)
Can be used in any verbal tense, and also with modal verbs, that is, those that indicate the ability or possibility of performing an action.
It is the most frequent voice in the sentences of a language and is opposed to the passive voice, which is one in which the subject does not perform the action of the verb, that is, it is a patient subject. In Spanish, the passive voice generally conforms to the verb ser + participle. For instance: The National Anthem is sung by Catalina. / A lie was told (by him / her).
One or the other voice will be used according to the order and priority that you want to give the subject over the object.
