Spanish Classes / / November 13, 2021
The intonation signs are the signs that indicate when writing if an expression is exclamatory or interrogative, giving the tone of exclamation or question mark to the expression.
In Spanish, an opening sign and a closing sign are used to delimit the phrase or sentence that it modifies, unlike languages such as English and Spanish. French where only an exclamation point or question mark is used at the end of the sentence to identify if the expression is a question or exclamation to write.
Using a single question mark or exclamation mark at the beginning or end of a sentence is incorrect in Spanish.
Currently in electronic media, such as the Internet, Cell phones, and other media, it has become widespread to use some forms of intonation by means of text, not supported by the rules of the Spanish language, such as writing sentences in capital letters, to represent screams, and using, either by limitation of the apparatus, by the brevity of the text or by convenience, the exclamation and question marks as in the grammar English.
