Spanish Classes / / November 13, 2021
The participle is one of the non-personal forms of the verb. This means that when a verb is in the participle its form is not associated with a grammatical person, like me, you, he, we, you, they... The other non-personal forms of the verb are the gerund and the infinitive. On the contrary, when a verb is conjugated its form is associated with a grammatical person. For example, the conjugated verb I have is associated with the person me: I have.
The verbs in participlethey end on –Ado, -gone, -to, -SW, -cho. Furthermore, the participle can vary in gender and number, so to these endings we must add the feminine ones –Ada, -Going, -ta, -sa, -cha, as well as plurals.
Most commonly, verbs have only one participle form. For example, the verb lead has only the participle form driven or the verb watch has only the participle form viewed.
However, in Spanish there are a few verbs that have a double participle; they have two accepted participle forms. The only ones verbs that admit double participle They are:
- Fry. Particulars: fried, fried.
- Participles: printed, printed.
- Participles: provided, provided.
