According to the use that is given to it, the word seriousness may refer to various issues ...
Physics: Force that the planet exerts on bodies
At the behest of Physics, gravity turns out to be that force physics that the earth exerts on all bodies towards the center of it. On the other hand, it is also the force of attraction of the bodies by reason of the mass they have.
How does it work?
Unfailingly, gravity is in tune with the weight, which represents, for its part, the force of gravity exerted by the mass of the planet on all objects that are arranged within its field of gravity. Then, the weight of the same body may vary on the various planets if the mass of the latter turns out to be different from the mass of the earth.
This type of force will make objects and bodies on the planet remain unfailingly united to it. If we throw a ball upwards it will fall in the opposite direction and the same will happen with any other element that is thrown. In this fall towards the ground, the body in question is attracted by the center of gravity as a consequence of the forces of reciprocal attraction that are located between the body and the planet earth.
All the objects present around us have a point where the weight is concentrated, this being the center of gravity.
The other side, zero gravity
As a counterpart, the concept of zero gravity appears, which thus names the condition in which there is no gravity or at least it is not noticed. This occurs when the weight present on a body is counteracted by another force exerted by a Balance gravitational forces. It can happen as a result of the acceleration of a body that is in orbit or in its free fall.
In spaceships or in the mentioned free falls it is possible to experience this phenomenon. We must point out that this is called weightlessness.
Newton and the Law of Gravity
The prominent English physicist and mathematician, Isaac Newton, opportunely proposed what is known as Law of Universal Gravitation or Theory of Gravity, which helped us understand this issue. Newton did indeed arrive at the conclusion that every object that has mass will exert yes or yes a gravitational attraction towards other objects of mass, even though the distance that exists between both objects. The greater the mass, the greater the force of attraction there will be and also, the smaller the distance between the objects, the greater the force of attraction..
Seriousness that characterizes a person
Another use of the term is linked to the idea of seriousness, composure and circumspection that a certain person presents as a characteristic trait, differential of its personality. "The seriousness of Juan's face makes that just by looking at you he imposes I respect”.
Quality of grave
And finally, the term can refer to the quality of seriousness of something, a situation, an event, that is, it is used in current use when It is intended to indicate the enormity, relevance and importance of an issue that has been raised. "The seriousness of the accident was evidenced by the damage it caused."
Undoubtedly, this reference together with the one exposed from the field of physics, are the most popular uses of this term.
When something is said to have the condition of gravity it will be because its consequences are certainly shocking, great and complicated.
Generally this sense is used in relation to the succession of catastrophes, such as fires, earthquakes, massacres, terrorist attacks, among others, all events that leave a tremendous and fatal balance of human victims and damage materials.
And it is also widely used in the field of medicine to refer to the complicated state of health that a patient goes through, bordering on death.
