When we value or comment on something before knowing it, we are prejudging. Thus, the action of prejudging implies that we make a judgment about something but without sufficient information. The person who acts in this way starts from a prejudice about someone or something and is attitude it is considered unreasonable, since to assess something it is convenient to start from prior information.
The action of prejudging is directly related to the idea of Justice. When we speak of justice we refer to the legal question, but also to the beginningmoral that each individual has when evaluating a certain action.
The tendency to prejudge is opposed to the search for true knowledge, since the truth about something is only achieved through a method rigorous and in any method the strategy that should not be used is to affirm something without knowing it.
An unfair attitude
In one way or another we all give our opinion (our personal judgment) on all kinds of issues, for example with regard to the people around us or in relation to the issues of present.
Opinion can have two categories: an opinion based on verified data and another based on beliefs and prejudices. This second option can be seen as clearly ill-advised and largely unfair. It is unfair because it is a baseless idea.
Considerations on bias
From the point of view of human behavior, prejudice is an attitude towards life, that is, a predisposition that certain people have.
Prejudice as an attitude is not only a conduct It is unfair but also has other negative effects: it conveys that someone is lax when speaking and communicates to others that the opinions of the one who is prejudging are unreliable.
Prejudiced people reject the opinions of others and are not open to new ideas. His ideas usually have the following scheme: this is so (the "this" can be anything, but the relevant thing is that they are not willing to change their mind).
Prejudices have a dimension personal but also collective. It must be remembered that certain groups or collectives are labeled with preconceived ideas or clichés and in this way they are created equivalences that distort reality (gypsy = ignorant, Catalan = stingy, Argentine = soccer lover, Caribbean = cheerful, beautiful = dumb...).
