We understand by sacrament all that act or ritual through which Christians seek to externalize their faith in God and represent it in a concrete way, with some kind of sacrifice, effort or demonstration public. The sacrament is one of the most important moments of the religion since it supposes the direct connection between the individual and his God of his, his way of expressing his permanent and deeper love by that God. The sacraments are typical of the Christian religion although they are not present in all its variants.
The term sacrament comes from the Latin sacramentum and it is related to the idea of making a saint, of the sanctity of something or of some act. Therefore, just as sacrament is understood, it is directly linked to the notion of holiness or the relationship between an individual and his God.
There are different types of sacraments that an individual can fulfill at different times in his life. All of them are volunteers but some are more necessary than others so that the person can be considered within the Christian community. A clear example of this is the
Baptism which appears as the first sacrament, the one that cleanses people from original sin and makes God receive them in his world. The first sacrament is precisely Baptism which, together with Confirmation and the Eucharist, are understood as the sacraments of initiation. They are the acts by which a person is initiated into Christianity. Then there are the sacraments of healing like the Forgiveness and the Anointing. Finally, the two sacraments of service are the Order and the Marriage. None of them can be organized or assured to the faithful by people who do not have the rank of priest within the church and therefore all of them are acts of great importance to Christians around the world. world.
