The focal word refers to everything that is specific to the focus or related to it.
Meanwhile, for focus you may want to refer the following questions... one lamp that emits a very powerful light (The spotlights on the set, in addition to dazzling, produce intense heat); the point from which a beam of light or heat rays starts (The lamp bulb is not directed correctly, please correct it); place in which something is concentrated and from there it spreads and also exerts a remarkable influence(After the violent and devastating earthquake, Japan, became the focus of attention world).
On the other hand, in some parts of the world, the word focus is used as synonym for electric bulb. The bulb burned out, I will go out to buy another to replace it, so as not to be without light there.
For its part, it is called distance focal of a lens, to the distance between the optical center of the lens and the focus when focusing at infinity. Meanwhile, the inverse of the focal length of a lens will be the
power(magnitude physical that allows to measure the capacity of a lens or mirror to converge, or failing that, diverge, a beam of light incident).Meanwhile, the focal length can be positive or convergent, or negative or divergent. In the first case, it is the distance from the central axis of the lens to where the parallel ray light beam passing through the lens is focused on a single point. And in the case of divergent focal length, it will be the existing distance from the central axis of the lens to an imaginary point from which the beam of light that passes through the lens.
