Definition of Independent Film

Many films are not produced or distributed by conventional commercial channels and therefore are labeled with a different denomination, movie theater independent, also known as indie cinema.
General traits that define it
It should be noted that there is no specific definition of this type of cinema, but it is possible to provide some elements that define it.

Titles that have become classics
It would be a mistake to value independent cinema as a category of inferior quality. In fact, some titles of this subculture of the Seventh Art have become great classics. "Taxi Driver" by Martin Scorsese, "Pulp Fiction" by Quentin Tarantino, "A Clockwork Orange" by Stanley Kubrick or Joel Coen's "The Big Lebowski" are examples of independent films that are part of film history.
Other labels typical of cinema
Like any other art, cinema presents a wide range of currents, trends and classifications. Low budget but commercial type movies are known as series B. Throughout its history there have been all kinds of currents (Italian neorealism, expressionism German, the surrealism or the French nouvelle vague, among many others).
Movies can be classified by their gender (western, science fiction, musical, film noir, comedy, war, erotic, etc).
Films are sometimes ordered by their historical setting, by their Format (for example, 3D cinema) or by your audience (such as adult cinema). Those films that become mythical are called cult and those that are produced outside the conventional culture receive the label of underground.
