To the think In the term disciple, the name and teachings of Jesus come to mind, who was addressing a group of followers to communicate his ideas. Those followers who listened attentively to Jesus' words were his disciples. The Bible specifically mentions twelve disciples (also called apostles). His role was not limited to learn of Jesus, his teacher, but they had the duty to spread his teachings and they had to imitate his behavior.
The idea and the meaning of disciple in Christianity is paradigmatic. It is a model of teacher-student relationship that determines the other approaches that have occurred throughout history.
The disciple is convinced of the value and truth of the proposals that he defends. He is true to his ideas and is committed to the doctrine that he follows. For this reason, he considers it his duty moral pass on the teachings he has received.
The disciple is a person who wants to learn and takes as an intellectual and moral reference someone to whom he attributes superior knowledge and qualities. Normally the disciple admires his teacher. The relationship between the two can be transformed and the student increases his knowledge until he surpasses his teacher. It is a logical process and quite common in the history of the
thought human. Socrates was the teacher of Plato and the historians of the philosophy they consider that the disciple expanded and perfected the ideology of his teacher. And the process continued with Plato as teacher and the appearance of an outstanding disciple, Aristotle. Aristotle studied at Plato's academy for many years and eventually became disenchanted, thus creating hisown school philosophical (the Lyceum). And so we could continue, since Aristotle was one of the teachers of Alexander the Great.
The disciple follows a teacher or an intellectual current. Cultural movements and especially religions are based on the relationship between the two. For someone to spread ideas passionately and conviction needs a reference of great value, a leader who awakens the attraction of his students and these can, in turn, become guides for new disciples.
If the disciple deviates from the intellectual current of the teacher there is a break. This separation has been very frequent in the history of religions and there is talk of heresy when there is a new deviation in the original ideology.
