    Example of Possessive Adjectives in English (possesive Adjectives)

    The Possessive adjectives in English are those that modify the noun or pronoun indicating membership. They answer the questions of Whom? (Whose?) Or Which one? (Which?). There are two types of possessive adjectives:

    Derivatives of possessive pronouns. There are 7 possessive adjectives derived from the corresponding pronouns, which are used attributively:

    1. My (my, first person singular; corresponds to the pronoun my, mine)
    2. Your (you, yours, yours, from You or You; corresponds to the second person, both singular and plural; corresponds to the pronoun your, yours)
    3. His (his from him, third person singular; corresponds to the pronoun his)
    4. Her (her de ella de ella, third person singular corresponds to the pronoun her, hers)
    5. its (its neuter of it, refers to animals or things, third person singular; corresponds to the pronoun its)
    6. our (our, first person plural; corresponds to the pronoun our, ours)
    7. Their (their of them, third person plural; corresponds to the pronoun their, theirs)

    When used in a predicative form, the following forms are used:

    1. mine
    2. yours
    3. his
    4. hers
    5. its
    6. ours
    7. theirs.

    Furthermore, in the predicative form, to make the possessive more emphatic, the word own is added.

    Possessive nouns. The adjectives that use possessive nouns are those that indicate the membership of the noun or pronoun, mentioning the specific person or thing. When the noun is singular, it is formed by adding an apostrophe and the letter "s":

    Jhon’s house
    cat’s food
    Carlos’s Mother

    When the noun is plural and therefore has the endings -s or -es, then only the apostrophe is written.

    Examples of possessive adjectives in English:

    1. My book.
    2. Your chair
    3. The bus is ours
    4. Come to his house
    5. My group is so big
    6. We came from Bob’s house
    7. This is my dog’s chain.
    8. Their trip wasn't good.
    9. Snakes ’poison is so dangerous
    10. John pays the travel with his own money.
    11. Parents ’guide is overpriced
    12. Our vacations were in Florida
    13. The Street was empty, its sidewalks was broken.
    14. Those bags are theirs.
    15. The New York Metro works all day. Its platform is so crowded.
    16. Her mother is sick
    17. Your eyes are so beautiful.
    18. You must do it by your own effort.
    19. Take your luggage, please.
    20. Love your enemies.
    21. When he ran away, Harry’s shoes brake.
    22. My computer is failing. Its hard disk doesn’t work.
    23. Rome’s Coliseum is an ancient stadium
    24. Don’t help me; I'll do it by my own media.
    25. Your book is too old.
    26. Her sister of her gone to town
    27. Our grandpa lives in Europe.
    28. Sandra’s hair is black and silken.
    29. The speakers' sound is loud and clear.
