Example of Regular Verbs in English
English / / July 04, 2021
Regular verbs in English are all the verbs that form the past and past participle by adding the particle –ed to the simple form of the verb.
When a regular verb ends in “y” and is preceded by a consonant letter, the y is changed to i, and if the particle –ed is added:
Cry (cry, scream) - cried - cried
Copy - copied - copied
Hurry (hurry) - hurried - hurried
When the verb ends in “y” preceded by a vowel sound, it is preserved and only the ending –ed is added:

Destroy (destroy, break) - destroyed - destroyed
For verbs ending in "e", only the letter –d is added:

When a verb ending in a consonant has a sharp sound, the final consonant is doubled and the ending -ed is added:
